APC Launches Edo Governor Screening Committee Without Presence Of Ganduje

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a seven-member committee tasked with overseeing the screening process for the 12 governorship aspirants who purchased N50 million nomination forms to participate in the upcoming February 17 primary election in Edo State. The committee, led by former Minister of Sports and Special Duties, Prof Taoheed Adedoja, as Chairman and Dr Sani Danjuma as secretary, also includes members Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Adeoye Adelakum, Prince Darlington Dick, Lawal Abdullahi Kenken, and Margaret Duru. Simultaneously, a five-member screening appeal committee, chaired by Senator Ibrahim Danbaba with Smart Iheazor as secretary, was sworn in on the same day, featuring Bisi Odewumi, Ngozi Ononiwu, and Abu Bakar Sidiq as members.

Argungu, the APC National Organising Secretary, emphasized that aspirant screening before every primary aligns with the party’s constitution. He assured the integrity of the screening committee members and highlighted the provision for a screening appeal committee to address grievances. Argungu expressed confidence in the selected individuals, stating they possess principles, worthy values, and political pedigrees. He reassured a seamless and hitch-free exercise, with the support of a secretariat team.

The development follows the ruling party’s clearance of 12 aspirants for the screening process, including Gideon Ikhine, Prince Clem Agba, Prof Oserheimen Osunbor, Monday Okpebholo, Lucky Imasuen, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Anamero Dekeri, Blessing Agbohmere, Dennis Idahosa, Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, Col. David Imuse, and Major General Charles Airhiavbere (Retd).
