APC Leader Tinubu Urged To Address Dangote Refinery’s Diesel Price Concerns, Says Party....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
An All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart from Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged President Bola Tinubu to address the potential reduction in the pump price of diesel produced by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye emphasized that the current pump price of N1,225 set by the refinery was excessively high. He advocated for a noticeable margin between the pump price of imported diesel and that of a domestically-operated refinery.
Oyintiloye expressed disappointment that rather than witnessing a decrease in the pump price of diesel and other petroleum products due to the establishment of the Dangote refinery, the opposite seemed to be occurring.
He highlighted the recent assertion by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria that the landing cost of diesel stands at N1,250 per liter, citing the appreciation of the Naira against the dollar. This, he argued, underscored the necessity for presidential intervention in the pump price set by the local refinery.
As a former legislator, Oyintiloye stressed that since the product was being manufactured locally, devoid of the expenses linked with its importation into Nigeria, its price should logically be cheaper than imported alternatives.
“We cannot ignore the significance of the Dangote Refinery’s operational commencement in our nation. We commend Alhaji Aliko Dangote for this monumental project, which undoubtedly holds great promise for our economy,” Oyintiloye concluded.
