In a statement titled “Time for Akpabio to Go is Now,” Vatsa condemned Akpabio’s comments as callous and inappropriate for someone in his high office. The Senate President allegedly remarked that those wanting to protest could do so while he and others loyal to President Bola Tinubu would continue to benefit from the administration.

Vatsa criticized Akpabio for his insensitive stance while other respected Nigerians are urging dialogue between the protesters and the government. He pointed out that Akpabio, who benefited from the PDP government for 16 years, now seems to want to continue enjoying similar privileges under the APC government.

Vatsa argued that appointing Akpabio as Senate President is a major mistake and undermines the credibility of the APC government. He expressed frustration that the party seems to have been overtaken by figures associated with the previous administration, contradicting the change promised in 2015.

He concluded by stating that the APC must restore its credibility and rebuild trust with Nigerians before the 2027 elections, starting with Akpabio’s resignation to demonstrate the party’s commitment to genuine reform.
