Hamzat emphasized that Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has condemned the campaign and will not tolerate any attempts to incite ethnic division. He stated, “The call for the Igbos to leave is a product of social media nonsense. These faceless individuals pushing this agenda are spreading falsehoods. The governor has clearly rejected this divisive rhetoric. Lagos is a place where we have all coexisted peacefully, and we will not entertain attempts to stir ethnic discord.”

Hamzat also commented on the underlying issues driving such conflicts, noting, “Public commentary often exacerbates problems in this country. We must address critical issues like land management without letting ethnic biases influence our approach. The mismanagement of land and planning in West Africa remains a significant challenge. Instead of focusing on ethnicity, we should tackle real problems and improve our land use planning.
