Ganduje made this call during the annual conference of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria (FFDGN) held in Abuja, focusing on the theme, “Collaboration for a Common Vision of Good Governance and Sustainable Development.”

Represented by Mr. Emma Eneukwu, the APC Deputy National Chairman, South, Ganduje highlighted that assigning constitutional roles to deputy governors could help avoid unnecessary conflicts between governors and their deputies.

“I am delighted that you, the deputy governors, have chosen to establish a forum and engage in this advocacy. As you raise awareness and converse with our country’s leaders, it is crucial to constitutionally define the roles of deputy governors,” he stated.

In addition, former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi, advised political leaders to be guided by patriotism in all their endeavors. He stressed that the issue lies not with the content of the Nigerian Constitution but with the failure to adhere to it.

“While some individuals perceive the constitution as an inadequate document or a product of the military era, it is still the foundational legal framework. Even if it is considered a flawed vehicle, it is the vehicle we have. The constitution is sound, but it relies on good people to enforce it,” he affirmed.
