The All Progressives Congress (APC) remains confident in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s prospects for a second term in 2027, despite acknowledging economic challenges and a unified opposition front.

Naija News reported concerns over current economic policies such as fuel subsidy removal and currency devaluation, which have raised doubts among Nigerians about Tinubu’s potential re-election in 2027. However, Nze Chidi Duru, the APC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, defended these reforms, citing their necessity for stabilizing the precarious economy.

“Our party recognizes the ongoing economic difficulties faced by Nigerians. Since assuming office, President Tinubu has taken on these challenges head-on, knowing well the expectations of the people. The discussion about 2027 elections is timely because in the life of a nation, four years pass quickly,” Duru stated in a weekend interview.

Duru emphasized the significance of a leader’s initial term in office, acknowledging that performance during this period determines public perception and potential re-election. “Unless President Bola Tinubu decides not to contest, the APC will likely field our candidate in 2027 due to the incumbency advantage,” he added.
