Activist lawyer Madubuachi Idam called on presidential candidates to refrain from using electricity promises in their campaigns following a nationwide blackout caused by the collapse of the national grid.

The blackout occurred around 3 pm on Saturday, with partial restoration of bulk supply by the Transmission Company of Nigeria reported around 6:54 pm by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company.

Idam criticized socio-political commentators Reno Omokri and Daniel Bwala for defending President Bola Tinubu despite ongoing electricity supply challenges. In an interview with DAILY POST, Idam stated, “Once again, the national grid has collapsed. It’s undeniable that the grid has been unreliable under this administration.”

He continued, “Fuel scarcity has worsened in Nigeria despite its high prices. Unfortunately, President Tinubu’s supporters on social media, such as Reno Omokri and Daniel Bwala, staunchly defend him.”
