APC Primaries Tension Rises As Aiyedatiwa Warns Aspirants Against Rebellion

Speaking on Friday at the APC Central Senatorial District stakeholders’ meeting in Akure Township Hall, the governor stressed that candidates for the forthcoming elections would be chosen based on merit, loyalty, and electoral viability. He noted that political activities in the state had intensified, with the party’s process set to begin with the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms, followed by screening and possible appeals.
Aiyedatiwa urged aspirants to accept the outcome of the primaries in good faith, warning against actions that could destabilize the party. He emphasized that those not selected should remain committed to the APC, expressing confidence that future opportunities would come. He also disclosed that the party may adopt either direct primaries or a consensus arrangement, depending on the final decision reached.
The governor underscored the need for discipline and unity among party members, describing both as crucial to the APC’s continued growth and success in Ondo State.
Also addressing party stakeholders, APC State Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, reaffirmed the supremacy of the party and recognized Aiyedatiwa as the APC leader in the state. He said the State Working Committee remained loyal to the governor and urged aspirants to accept the party’s decisions with maturity, while also restating support for President Bola Tinubu.
