The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has blasted Rauf Aregbesola, Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), over his claim that the ruling party is a “failed government.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Aregbesola, while addressing supporters in Kosofe Local Government Area as part of efforts to recruit members into a new coalition movement, urged Lagosians and Nigerians to vote out the APC in the 2027 elections. He argued that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and APC had all failed the nation, promising that the ADC would offer Nigerians “a new deal.”

But in a swift and fiery reaction, Lagos APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, branded Aregbesola a “betrayer” who must take responsibility for his own role in governance rather than attempt to rewrite history for cheap political relevance.

Oladejo stated:

“Let it be clear that the Lagos APC considers Aregbesola’s comments not only disappointing but also a betrayal of the trust and values he once upheld under our party. His statements reek of political desperation and opportunism, disguised as a so-called ‘new deal’ that lacks substance, structure, or credibility.

It is ironic that a man who benefitted from the APC’s goodwill and political platform for over two decades — from his days as a commissioner in Lagos to Governor of Osun State, and later as a Federal Minister — now openly denounces the same party. If the APC has failed, then Ogbeni Aregbesola must also bear the responsibility for his own role in governance.

No amount of political grandstanding can change that reality. While individuals are free to pursue their political ambitions, they must do so with integrity and decorum. The Lagos APC is neither threatened by theatrics nor by sudden political conversions.

We welcome constructive criticism, but we reject outright falsehoods and political showmanship aimed at misleading the public. We remain united, focused, and determined to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people — building a greater Lagos and a stronger Nigeria.”
