APC Sweeps Victory As INEC Declares Party Winner of Rescheduled Zamfara Bye-Election

The returning officer, Professor Lawal Sa’adu of the Federal University, Gusau, announced the results on Thursday, confirming that the APC candidate secured the highest number of votes and met all legal requirements to be returned elected.
The supplementary poll was conducted in five polling units across the Kyambarawa and Saikajiki wards, following the earlier inconclusive election.
According to the official result, the APC candidate polled 8,182 votes, while his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 5,543 votes.
“Kamilu Saidu of the APC, having fulfilled all requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” Professor Sa’adu announced.
INEC had initially declared the August 16 bye-election inconclusive, after the APC polled 6,999 votes against the PDP’s 5,339 votes, leaving a margin of 1,660 votes. The commission then scheduled the supplementary election for August 21, 2025, to conclude the process.
Speaking earlier at a stakeholders’ meeting in Gusau, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mahmuda Isah, assured political parties and voters that adequate measures were put in place to guarantee a transparent, credible, and hitch-free exercise.
