Naija News reports that the suspect, who traveled from Zamfara State, was apprehended on Wednesday evening opposite the NTA Park in Jos while trying to hand over the arms to the bandits.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, Ibrahim Maikwudi, the Chairman of the Jos NTA Park, recounted in an interview with Punch how an angry mob nearly lynched the suspect before security operatives intervened.

Maikwudi explained that the suspect admitted to supplying arms to bandits and revealed that he was not acting alone.

“It was the security men who arrived in time that saved the suspect. Around 5 pm yesterday, the man was seen at the junction near the state Secretariat, opposite NTA Park. He was pacing and making calls, informing some individuals to come and collect their delivery. Two men nearby noticed his suspicious behavior and alerted us,” Maikwudi said.

“The two men couldn’t confront him directly, but when we were notified, our boys approached him and asked some questions. His answers were inconsistent. They seized a bag he was holding, which he protested. When they opened the bag, it was filled with arms and ammunition.

“People tried to beat him up, but we quickly called the police to prevent the mob from killing him. He confessed that he was not alone in this mission to Jos; there are many others involved.”
