Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Brigadier Gen. O. O Ojere highlighted the COAS’s commitment to prioritizing training within the Nigerian Army. This commitment, he noted, aims to transform the Army into a proficient and motivated force capable of fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities effectively.

The competition, spanning five days, features activities such as weapon handling, shooting, cross country running, map reading, obstacle crossing, and drill exercises. Participants from units including the 13 Brigade Calabar, 44 Engineering Brigade Enugu, 34 Artillery Brigade Owerri, 14 Brigade Ohafia, and the 82 Division Garrison Enugu will showcase their military skills.

Major Gen. Dada stressed the importance of continuous training, stating that readiness during conflict hinges on rigorous peacetime preparation. He underscored the Army’s ongoing professionalization efforts and expressed satisfaction with increased female participation in this year’s event.

Brigadier Gen. O. O Diya, the Brigade Commander of 14 Brigade Ohafia, echoed the sentiment on training’s pivotal role in the military, emphasizing its contribution to physical conditioning, tactical proficiency, discipline, and leadership development.
