Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue disclosed during a visit to Okpoga, the headquarters of Okpokwu Local Government Area, that his administration inherited salary arrears exceeding N359 billion from his predecessor. Promising to prioritize workers’ salaries, Governor Alia announced that civil servants in the state would now be paid starting from the 22nd of every month. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in his leadership and committed to reviving the Igumale Cement factory and constructing new access roads in the region. Additionally, he pledged to improve electricity supply in Okpoga with an infusion of 5,000 kW, aiming to alleviate local hardships.

Alia urged continued support for his administration and called for patience with President Bola Tinubu, highlighting positive policies for Nigerians. Earlier in the day, Daniel Onjeh, a former APC Senatorial candidate, challenged the governor to fulfill his campaign promises amidst opposition accusations of neglect in developmental efforts.
