Arrest And Prosecute Him — Lere Olayinka Reacts To Viral Video Of Pupils Praying In Tongues
Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called for the arrest and prosecution of a primary school headmaster following the emergence of a viral video showing pupils participating in an intense religious activity during school hours.
The video, which was shared by Olayinka on his social media platform, reportedly shows primary school pupils inside a classroom screaming, crying and praying in tongues during a revival programme led by a visiting clergyman.
Reacting to the footage, Olayinka expressed strong concern over the incident and questioned why a religious programme of such nature was allegedly allowed to take place during official learning hours.
The FCT ministerial aide argued that the school authorities should be held accountable for permitting the activity to take place on the school premises when pupils were expected to be engaged in academic activities.
Olayinka consequently called for the headmaster to be arrested and prosecuted, arguing that allowing the programme to disrupt school activities should have legal consequences.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the video has generated discussion over the boundaries between religious activities and formal academic programmes in schools, with Olayinka urging authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and take appropriate action.
