A man identified as Abdulazizi Abdulwasiu has been apprehended in Lagos State for impersonating a soldier by wearing his friend’s complete army camouflage uniform. According to reports from PUNCH Metro, Abdulwasiu was spotted riding an unregistered motorcycle in the Ajangbadi area when police officers from the Ilemba Hausa Division, who were on patrol, noticed him.
Upon seeing the officers, Abdulwasiu fled on foot, but the police pursued and caught him on June 14, 2024, suspecting his behavior. During questioning, Abdulwasiu admitted that the military attire belonged to his friend, currently serving as a soldier in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The incident was confirmed by a police source who preferred anonymity due to concerns about potential repercussions. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, also verified the arrest and stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
