An employee of a new generation bank in Benin, Edo State, named Nosa, was fatally shot by gunmen suspected to be cultists, according to reports from PUNCH Metro. The tragic incident occurred on June 20, 2024, in the Government Reservation Area of Benin City, the state capital.
Reports indicate that Nosa received a call while at work, inviting him for a hangout at a joint after his shift. Unaware of any danger, he decided to join his caller at the agreed venue after work hours. On his way there, however, his assailants, who had apparently been tracking him, intercepted his vehicle, blocked him with their car, and opened fire on him.
He was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries. Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, confirmed the incident, describing it as very unfortunate. “Yes, the command confirmed it. It is an unfortunate incident. As I speak with you, the matter is under investigation,” he stated. Nwabuzor assured the public that the police are committed to investigating the matter thoroughly and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
