Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Soludo described their interaction as “quite pleasant,” noting that the President is in “robust health and high spirits.”
“I have no apologies about it. President Tinubu is my friend. He has been my friend for 22 years and counting—you don’t deny your friend,” Soludo said.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governor praised Tinubu’s leadership, particularly in economic and structural reforms. “I support him, and I’m impressed by the bold steps he has taken. We are on the right path and must stay the course,” he added.
Soludo explained that his support is rooted in a belief that all progressive parties should collaborate. “You’ve seen the billboards declaring that progressives are working together. I strongly believe that all political parties professing progressivism should unite in a broad coalition to strengthen democracy and drive socio-economic development,” he said.
On security, Soludo revealed that his administration is adopting both “kinetic and non-kinetic” measures. The recently passed Homeland Security Law, he said, is being enforced alongside crackdowns on criminal groups, especially those preying on young people.
“Our non-kinetic approach is centred on youth empowerment and job creation. We have a unique skills programme that has already empowered about 5,000 young people, with thousands more set to benefit. Our goal is to create thousands of youth millionaires within the next three years,” the governor stated.
