In a statement on Tuesday, the EFCC rejected ADC’s claims that the government is using the agency to harass opposition leaders, following the detention of former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the invitation to Imo State officials over the tenure of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha.

It dismissed ADC’s claims of politically motivated summons as “self-serving, diversionary, and idle,” stressing that every corruption allegation must be investigated regardless of timing.

The EFCC also pointed out that it is probing members of both the ruling party and the opposition, and that many sitting governors of various political affiliations remain under investigation. “We will not be blackmailed into disclosing details of discreet investigations, no matter the provocation,” the agency concluded.
