The committee is expected to provide a report within a week. The fees have increased significantly from N35,000 to N100,000 for the 2024/2025 session, which began on September 15, 2024.

During a plenary session on Monday, Obasa intervened after hearing protest chants and assured the parents that their concerns would be addressed. He urged them to remain calm.

House member Shabi Adekola, representing Lagos Mainland II, mentioned that in discussions with the Ministry of Education, it was agreed that parents could continue paying the old fee of N35,000 while the situation is reviewed.

Gbolahan Yishawu, representing Eti-Osa Constituency II, noted that the fee increase was primarily due to rising feeding costs. He called on the government to consider measures to alleviate the financial strain on parents.

Additionally, Bonu Solomon (Badagry I) highlighted concerns raised by parents about students who cannot afford the new fees being denied access to food on campus, exacerbating their challenges. The assembly awaits further insights from the education committee.
