The corps member was assigned to a secondary school in Ikuru and also worked part-time at LDM Chinese Milling Company in the area. Grace Iringe-Koko, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the ongoing investigation and the arrests, stating that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry.

Commissioner of Police Muhammed Mustache met with officials from the NYSC to discuss the case and the measures being taken to locate Faruq.

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria expressed concern over the incident, noting that Faruq had signed in for his shift at the milling company but never signed out, raising alarm among his family, friends, and colleagues. They also highlighted that his belongings, including his bag and phone, were returned to the secondary school where he was assigned, deepening the mystery surrounding his disappearance.

The Society appealed for help and prayers to ensure Faruq’s safe return, stating, “Every passing moment is agonizing.”

When contacted, Christian Onuoha, the NYSC Public Relations Officer in Rivers State, indicated that he was not authorized to comment on the situation.
