Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and his Kano State counterpart, Rabiu Kwankwaso, along with other prominent opposition figures, are also expected to attend the summit. The event is being hosted by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku, who is among contenders seeking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election, shared a video of his arrival on his official X handle. The clip showed a large crowd at the airport singing and cheering as he arrived in the city. He captioned the post: “I have just arrived in Ibadan, Oyo State, for the National Summit of all opposition parties.”
Meanwhile, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, has raised concerns over an alleged plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt the summit. In a statement released on Saturday morning, he claimed that after being denied access to venues in Abuja, attempts were now being made to frustrate the gathering in Ibadan.
Abdullahi described the situation as part of a broader pattern aimed at undermining opposition activities, accusing the ruling party of inconsistency in its public stance on political competition. Despite the alleged interference, he insisted that the opposition coalition would proceed with the summit as planned.
