Atiku, Peter Obi Can’t Gather Enough Support To Defeat Tinubu In 2027 – Ganduje

Speaking at a public event in Kano, Ganduje assessed the opposition’s chances ahead of the 2027 general election, arguing that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Peter Obi, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, do not have the grassroots support or regional influence needed to secure victory.
According to him, the North remains the deciding factor in Nigeria’s presidential elections, and neither opposition figure has the capacity to command enough support in the region.
“The North is strategic in every presidential election in Nigeria. With due respect to our friends in the opposition, neither Peter Obi nor Atiku Abubakar can mobilise enough support in this region to defeat President Tinubu in 2027,” Ganduje said.
The former Kano State governor also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to tighten the requirements for registering political parties.
He argued that only parties with well-established structures, clear ideological direction and a genuine national presence should be recognised by the electoral umpire.
Ganduje’s remarks come as political parties intensify consultations and strategic realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition figures seeking alliances to challenge the ruling APC.
