Atiku Slams Military Over Sokoto Airstrike: A Gross Violation Of Humanity Following Civilian Deaths

The bombing, which struck communities near the Surame desert—a known hideout for the Lakurawa terror group—has left the region devastated. In a powerful post on X, Atiku described the airstrike as an “outrage” that requires the harshest condemnation.
He raised concerns about the lessons learned from similar incidents, notably referencing the tragic December 3, 2023, airstrike on a religious gathering in Tudun Biri, Kaduna, where countless innocent lives were lost. Atiku asked, “How many more lives must be sacrificed before we take action?”
While acknowledging the importance of targeting terrorists, Atiku stressed the need for precision and actionable intelligence, warning that the indiscriminate killing of innocent citizens is “a gross violation of humanity itself.” He called for an immediate halt to the “tragic cycle of death” and urged the government to learn from past mistakes.
Atiku’s message continued, emphasizing that the destruction of innocent lives by those meant to protect citizens only breeds division and anger, which fuels further conflict. He concluded with heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and the people of Sokoto, expressing hope that the departed may rest in peace.
