Devastating Explosion In Minna: Gas Cylinder Kills One, Injures Two More

Published

A gas cylinder explosion on Christmas Day in Kpakungun, a suburb of Minna, has tragically resulted in the death of Zakari Aliyu, with two others, Mohammed Usman Baba and Umar Mohammed, suffering injuries. The explosion occurred at a vulcanizer shop when Mohammed Usman Baba, the shop owner, used the cylinder for a customer and then left it to charge.

Eyewitnesses reported that the cylinder overheated, prompting Zakari, an apprentice at the shop, to attempt cooling it with water, a standard procedure for such situations. Unfortunately, as he poured the water on the cylinder, it exploded, killing him instantly and injuring the shop owner and his son.

Umar Mohammed, the shop owner’s son, sustained severe abdominal injuries and is expected to undergo surgery. Local authorities and residents have stressed the need for better safety awareness regarding gas cylinder usage to prevent future incidents.
