The Samoa Agreement has sparked controversy over allegations that it includes provisions related to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) rights, purportedly linked to a $150 billion loan deal signed by the federal government.

Taking to his social media platform, Rasheeth posted on Sunday, “I received numerous phone calls from several influencers about a Northern Tinubu Media Aide who was widely distributing money and recruiting many people to defend the LGBTQ deal.”

Earlier statements from the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, refuted claims suggesting Nigeria had agreed to grant LGBTQ rights as part of the loan conditions. Similarly, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, emphasized in a Saturday statement that reports surrounding the Samoa Agreement, particularly regarding LGBTQ clauses, were unfounded and based on misinformation.

Mohammed Idris asserted that the allegations circulating were speculative and lacked factual basis.
