Atiku’s Fixation Is Sickening’ – Wike’s Ally Mocks Ex-VP, Questions His Mental State

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning his relentless pursuit of Nigeria’s presidency.

Olayinka likened Atiku’s obsession to a medical condition, sarcastically suggesting that the former VP behaves as if a doctor had prescribed the presidency for him—implying that he might suffer if he doesn’t clinch the nation’s top job.

Speaking on Thursday during an interview with Channels Television, Olayinka branded Atiku as a “bad apple” within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing him of undermining the party as far back as 2003. He alleged that Atiku’s actions while serving as Vice President enabled anti-party tendencies to flourish, particularly in Lagos State.

“The only thing that matters to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is becoming Nigeria’s President. Sometimes I wonder if ‘presidency’ was prescribed to him like medication—because he behaves like something terrible will happen if he doesn’t get it,” Olayinka said.

His remarks came just hours after Atiku officially communicated his resignation from the PDP via a letter addressed to the party’s chairman in Jada 1 Ward, Jada LGA, Adamawa State.

However, Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, claimed the resignation letter was deliberately leaked by political enemies seeking to sabotage the former VP’s future ambitions. Speaking on Arise News Wednesday night, Ibe dismissed the backlash over Atiku’s exit timing, which came shortly after the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
