Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has revealed the reason behind his decision to oppose the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the 2023 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Ortom explained that he took the stance despite the potential risk it posed to his senatorial ambition.

According to him, the PDP’s choice to zone the presidency to the North was unjust. He argued that in the interest of equity, fairness, and justice, the presidency should have rotated to the South after eight years of northern leadership.

He said:
“When the PDP overwhelmingly endorsed a northern candidate, we objected because it was wrong. Equity demands that after eight years in the North, the presidency should shift to the South. I’ve always been clear on my position — I didn’t want to be a hypocrite or pretend. That’s why I opposed the PDP in the 2023 election.”

Ortom added that he was prepared to sacrifice his own political ambitions to stand by his principles:
“Even if it meant losing my senatorial bid after serving as governor for eight years, so be it. What matters is standing for justice, fairness, and equity.”
