In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), the 60-year-old Albanese joyfully exclaimed, “She said yes,” accompanied by a love-heart emoji.

Alongside the announcement, he shared a selfie of the couple, reportedly captured on Valentine’s Day, where both are seen smiling radiantly.

Haydon, adorned in an emerald green attire, gently rests her hand on Albanese’s chest, showcasing her engagement ring. Meanwhile, Albanese, sporting a light-blue collared shirt, beams with happiness.

The love story between Albanese and Haydon began when they met at a Melbourne business dinner in 2020. Notably, Albanese marks the first Australian Prime Minister to announce an engagement while in office, as reported by the public broadcaster ABC.

“Love is a beautiful thing. I’m so happy for you both!” expressed Foreign Minister Penny Wong, echoing the sentiments of many well-wishers, including Australian politicians and English celebrity chef Nigella Lawson.

Despite the outpouring of congratulations, some online critics hinted at distractions from pressing national and international issues, such as the conflict in Gaza.

Anthony Albanese, affectionately nicknamed Albo, embarked on his political journey by joining the centre-left Labor Party during high school. His involvement in the demanding realm of student politics at the University of Sydney further shaped his career trajectory.

Sworn in as Prime Minister in May 2022, Albanese’s commitment to public service traces back to his humble beginnings. Elected to parliament in 1996, he dedicated his first parliamentary speech to his mother, Maryanne Ellery, acknowledging her resilience in raising him amidst adversity.

Growing up in public housing in Sydney, Albanese experienced firsthand the challenges of financial instability, as his single mother often grappled with making ends meet.
