Authorities Detain 27 individuals On charges Of sexual Assault And Sodomy In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to tackle crime in the state, with the arrest of 36 suspects allegedly involved in cases of rape and sodomy. This development was disclosed by ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the spokesperson of the command, in a statement released on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

According to Aliyu, the arrests were made within the month of April, alongside the apprehension of 22 individuals suspected of armed robbery and 10 others linked to murder cases during the same period.

The statement further revealed that the command dealt with a total of 81 major crime cases, including incidents of kidnapping, culpable homicide, and cattle rustling, among others. Out of these cases, 69 were brought before the courts, leading to the arrest of 145 suspects in connection with the alleged offenses.

Additionally, 58 suspects were apprehended for various offenses such as criminal force, intimidation, inciting disturbance, theft, and affiliation with gangs. The efforts of the command also resulted in the neutralization of 12 suspected bandits, the rescue of over 30 kidnapped victims, and the recovery of 492 rustled animals.

The proactive measures undertaken by the Katsina State Police Command underscore its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents in the state.
