Authorities Investigate Abduction Of Channels TV Journalist In Port Harcourt....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Rivers State Police Command has officially confirmed the abduction of Joshua Rogers, a reporter with Channels Television, from his residence in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor area of Rivers.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Friday that Rogers was taken in the late hours of Thursday. She assured that the police are actively collaborating with other security agencies to ensure his swift release.

“Rogers’s abduction has been reported to the Rivers Police Command, and concerted efforts are underway to secure his freedom. Despite no contact from the abductors yet, we’re coordinating closely with other security bodies to facilitate his safe return,” Iringe-Koko stated.

Rogers, who serves as Channels Television’s Government House correspondent in Rivers, was abducted around 9 p.m. on Thursday upon returning home from an assignment.

According to a reliable source, Rogers was trailed after leaving work to his residence. He was confronted by gunmen upon exiting his car, who then forcefully took him and his vehicle to an undisclosed location.

“The kidnappers later reached out to his wife, demanding a ransom of N30 million for his release,” the source revealed on condition of anonymity.

It was noted that Rogers had covered the inauguration of a Primary Healthcare Centre earlier in the day before his abduction.

Expressing dismay over the incident, another source emphasized the unjust targeting of a journalist simply carrying out his duty to inform the public. The source urged for Rogers’s immediate and safe release, considering the financial constraints commonly faced by journalists.

The community awaits updates on Rogers’s situation, hoping for his safe return as soon as possible.
