Bandits Kill One, Abduct University Student And Three Others In Sokoto

Bandits attacked Gumburawa village in Wamakko Local Government Area, Sokoto State, early Monday morning, September 9, 2024. During the raid, which lasted about 30 minutes, one person was killed, and four others were abducted.

Gumburawa, located near Usmanu Danfodio University on the outskirts of Sokoto city, was targeted in the pre-dawn hours. Among those kidnapped is Fodio Abdullahi, a 300-level student at the university.

Malam Sa’idu Muhammad Gumburawa, a resident who has previously been a victim of banditry, told Daily Trust that the attackers focused on several houses during their brief but intense operation. “They arrived around midnight and left after about 30 minutes, taking one life and kidnapping four individuals,” he reported.

The Sokoto State Police Command spokesperson, SP Ahmed Rufa’i, indicated that further details would be provided once the incident was confirmed with the local Divisional Police Office.
