Bandits Threaten To Sell 62 Wedding Guests Unless N100m Ransom Is Paid In Katsina

A disturbing video has emerged in which bandits threaten to force the marriage of a recently abducted bride and auction off her 62 wedding guests in Katsina State. In the widely circulated video on social media, the bandits demand a ransom of N100 million for the release of the captives. The group’s leader, adorned in a police uniform, asserts that unless the ransom is paid, they will proceed to marry off the bride to one of their members. Additionally, the criminals threaten to sell the 62 wedding guests if their financial demands are not met.

The captives, some with AK-47 rifles hung around their necks, are seen in distress, pleading for help, while the bride is forced to wear an army uniform. The bandit leader challenges the government, declaring his intention to keep the captives until the ransom is paid, taunting any attempt at rescue.

A family member confirmed that the bandits specifically targeted N100 million as the ransom, a sum beyond their means. The kidnappers allegedly shot the video as a challenge to the state governor, Dikko Umar Radda, who had vowed to rescue the victims.

Among those abducted were eight sisters and nine daughters of one family, while another individual, Zubairu, reported his wife, six children, and 13 relatives among the captives. The Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa, assured that government officials had engaged with security agents to devise a strategy for the safe rescue of the captives. He urged the relatives to remain patient, emphasizing that rescuing the abductees is a complex process that cannot be accomplished overnight.
