Barcelona Survive Levante Fightback To Maintain Perfect La Liga Start

Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the La Liga season after surviving a late fightback from Levante at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Hansi Flick’s side appeared to have secured a comfortable victory after establishing a three-goal advantage early in the second half. However, two goals from Levante in the final 11 minutes turned the encounter into a tense contest.

The victory marked Barcelona’s fifth consecutive league win of the season and moved the defending champions three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table.

Barcelona took control of the match when Xavi Espart opened the scoring before Lamine Yamal doubled the advantage after combining with Raphinha’s cut-back.

Yamal struck again just three minutes into the second half, converting a penalty to put Barcelona 3-0 ahead and seemingly out of sight.

Levante, however, refused to give up and began taking advantage of openings in Barcelona’s defence. Substitute Ivan Romero capitalised on a mistake involving Espart with 11 minutes remaining to reduce the deficit and give the home side renewed hope.

The goal transformed the atmosphere inside the stadium as Levante intensified their attack in search of another breakthrough.

Their pressure paid off less than nine minutes later when Roger Brugue bundled the ball into the net from close range, cutting Barcelona’s advantage to just one goal.

With the hosts pushing for an equaliser, Barcelona came under significant pressure during the closing stages. Flick’s players nevertheless managed to hold their composure and protect their lead.

The Catalan giants eventually put the result beyond doubt in second-half stoppage time when substitute Karim Adeyemi beat goalkeeper Matthew Ryan to restore Barcelona’s two-goal cushion and seal all three points.

Barcelona will now turn their attention to their next La Liga fixture, with Racing Santander scheduled to visit on Wednesday.
