Barcola Named In Champions League Team Of The Week After Hat-Trick In Liverpool’s 6-3 Victory
UEFA has named Bradley Barcola in its Team of the Week for Matchday Two of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League following his reported hat-trick in Liverpool’s 6-3 away victory over LASK.
The European football governing body announced the selection on its official account on October 15, after a record-breaking round that reportedly produced 78 goals across 18 matches. Barcola also received the Player of the Week award in recognition of his impressive performance.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha were also included in the selected XI after delivering notable performances for their respective clubs.
Vitinha earned recognition following PSG’s 4-2 victory over Manchester City, while Sabah goalkeeper Stas Pokatilov was rewarded for keeping a clean sheet in what was described as a historic victory for the Azerbaijani side.
The Team of the Week was selected by UEFA’s Technical Observer Group and presented by Hyundai. Pokatilov was named in goal, with Maximiliano Araújo of Sporting CP, Falchener of Viking FK, Jeff Chabot of Stuttgart and Fredrik Sjøvold of Bodø/Glimt forming the defensive line.
Aston Villa’s Manzambi and Vitinha occupied the midfield positions, while Barcola, Kane, Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi and Yamal completed the attacking lineup.
Other notable results from the round included Aston Villa’s emphatic 6-0 victory over Fenerbahçe, Real Madrid’s dramatic 4-3 comeback win away to Roma, and Club Brugge’s 4-3 triumph over Inter Milan.
The selection highlights some of the standout individual displays from a high-scoring round of European football.
