INEC Fires Back At Media Report Alleging Irregularities In Lagos Voters Register Display
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has dismissed a media report alleging that the voters’ register was not displayed at some registration centres in Alimosho and Shomolu Local Government Areas.
The commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Esther Emeh, described the allegation as false, insisting that the exercise was conducted across all 245 registration areas, also known as wards, in the state.
Reacting to the report by Arise TV, Emeh maintained that every registration area in Alimosho and Shomolu was covered during the display of the voters’ register. She urged residents to disregard claims suggesting that the exercise did not take place in some locations.
According to Bush Radio Academy, INEC has advised residents to rely on the commission’s official communication channels for accurate information regarding electoral activities.
The electoral body also urged journalists and media organisations to verify information with credible and authoritative sources before publishing reports, warning that inaccurate reporting could contribute to the spread of misinformation and undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, credible elections and the timely dissemination of accurate information to the public.
