The claims circulating on social media alleged that Kanu had influenced the wardens to “hate Nigeria,” prompting both officers to resign. These reports, which first appeared on Facebook, lacked any verifiable sources or supporting evidence.

Reacting on , Ahmad expressed frustration over the spread of the false narrative and criticised IPOB supporters for propagating it.

He wrote, “I just came across one of the most ridiculous posts on Facebook, claiming that Nnamdi Kanu converted two prison wardens in Sokoto Prison to join him in hating Nigeria, and that they even resigned. His followers are sharing this nonsense without any logic or evidence.”
