Senator Buba, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was previously honored with the title of ‘Mandarin Bauchi’. At a press briefing last week, he accused Governor Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of misappropriating palliative items provided by the APC-led federal government. This accusation came in response to the governor’s critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies. Buba claimed that essential supplies, including rice, corn, and fertilizer, intended to relieve economic hardship, were allegedly sold by the state government rather than distributed to the people.

In a letter dated August 14, 2024, and signed by Nasiru Musa on behalf of the Emirate Council’s secretary, the council announced the title’s withdrawal. The decision followed a meeting where Senator Umar’s alleged misconduct was reviewed. The council concluded that his actions were inconsistent with the values and traditions upheld by the Bauchi Emirate, leading to the revocation of his traditional role.
