This decision was revealed in a communiqué issued after a meeting of the State Working Caretaker Committee, chaired by Acting Party Chairman George Turnah.

The newly approved structure aligns the salaries of PDP officials with those of political appointees in the Bayelsa State Government. According to the communiqué signed by Acting State Publicity Secretary Derri Alasuote Wright, the adjustment was made to address long-standing concerns about poor welfare and inadequate remuneration for officials, especially at the ward and local government levels.

Currently, ward executives earn as little as ₦5,000 monthly, while LGA executives receive ₦20,000. Under the new plan:

  • LGA Chairmen will earn ₦621,000 monthly (equivalent to a Special Adviser).

  • Vice Chairmen and Secretaries will earn ₦336,000 (on par with Senior Special Assistants).

  • Other LGA executive members (15 in total) will earn ₦196,000 each.

  • At the ward level, Chairmen will receive ₦336,000, Vice Chairmen and Secretaries ₦196,000, and other ward officials ₦120,000 each.

  • Senatorial officials and non-working state committee members will get ₦621,000, while State Working Committee members will receive ₦1,048,500, equivalent to Cabinet Commissioners.

The committee described the new wage bill as not only reasonable and affordable but also vital for boosting performance and morale. It emphasized the move as a strategic investment in the welfare of the party’s grassroots structure.

The Acting State Secretary has been tasked with forwarding the new structure to Governor Douye Diri for consideration and action.
