BBN Winner Kellyrae Reveals She’s Never Had N1 Million In Her Account
BBN Winner Kellyrae Reveals She’s Never Had N1 Million In Her AccountThe recently crowned winner of Big Brother Naija (No Lose Guard) Season Nine, Kingsley Sule, popularly known as Kellyrae, shared his experience in the house and his future plans with TOFARATI IGE.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
At what point did you feel you could win the show?
There was never a moment I thought I would win. I was just praying for God to keep my wife and me in the house until at least the second week. I felt if we got evicted after the first week, we wouldn’t have made any impact. I always wanted to leave with something and leave something behind, even if it wasn’t the money. Lasting beyond the third week, I realized anything could happen and left everything in God’s hands. Even now, it’s hard to believe I won—I’m still processing it. It’s surreal for someone like me, who came from nothing.
Who did you think could win?
Based on what I had heard about BBN and the type of content people liked, I thought contestants like Wanni, Handi, Onyeka, or the Mbadiwe twins had a strong chance. They were prominent in the house, while I was just going with the flow.
Some people believe not revealing your marital status early on was a strategy that helped you reach the final. What do you think?
That wasn’t a strategy to win; it was more about connecting with other contestants. I interacted with other housemates, including dancing with Onyeka and some of the girls. If I had disclosed my marital status earlier, they might have kept their distance, just like they did with Tjay, who is married. I wanted to build friendships and connect with everyone, and I always intended to reveal my status later.
How do you plan to handle your newfound fame while protecting your family from public scrutiny?
My wife and I anticipated that our lives would change after the show. We got married in February 2024, and even though it feels like we’ve been married for longer because we courted for a while, we’ve prepared for this.
How will winning the show affect your life?
Even before winning, I was already feeling the impact. If I hadn’t won, I wouldn’t have felt bad. Some people think my victory was a reward for being a well-behaved married man, but I haven’t had time to check my phone and see what influenced the votes.
Did you face any challenges in the house?
I didn’t face significant challenges. I often followed my instincts, and things happened as I predicted. The only thing I avoided was bantering with the ladies, but with the guys, I gave as good as I got.
Since your wife was your partner in the competition, how do you plan to share the prize money?
(Laughs) We’ll have a meeting, and once we’ve decided, we’ll let you know. I do call her my secretary and treasurer, and even before the show, she was helping with my music career.
What are your plans for your music career?
I intend to pursue my music career with full force. People may say that winning BBN doesn’t guarantee success in music, but I believe I’m different. I’ve already made history as the first married man to win the show.
Who is your role model among past BBN winners?
I admire all the winners for different reasons. My mother always says that you can learn from anyone, even from the dance of a madman. I’ve taken something from each of them.
What’s the most money you’ve had in your account before winning?
I’ve earned and spent millions, but I’ve never had one million naira in my account at once.
How do you plan to manage the large sum of money you’ve won?
It’s not confusing. I’ve taken time to mature into this, and I’m ready to handle it responsibly.
