Former Bayelsa East Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has dismissed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s allegations of corruption against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Atiku, in an interview with journalist Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie on Untold Stories, accused Akpabio of corruption dating back to his tenure as Akwa Ibom State governor. He made the remarks while criticizing the National Assembly’s approval of President Bola Tinubu’s State of Emergency declaration in Rivers State.

“I was not surprised because I know that the leadership is corrupt, and I have no apologies for that. They could do anything. The Senate President is actually known for having that type of character, even when he was a governor,” Atiku stated.

In response, Murray-Bruce, in a Facebook post, strongly defended Akpabio, describing him as a man of “unimpeachable good character.” He insisted that both the South-South region and Nigeria are privileged to have Akpabio leading the National Assembly.

“I know Senator Godswill Akpabio personally and intimately. He has been thoroughly investigated by independent agencies, political allies, and opponents, yet he remains as clean as a whistle,” he wrote.

The former senator emphasized the need for national stability and warned against undermining the legislature for partisan reasons.

“I will not stand idly by while some individuals, both at home and abroad, attempt to tarnish an institution I once proudly served,” he stated, adding that he fully supports Akpabio and rejects baseless allegations.
