However, the post drew backlash online, with many questioning his motives. Responding to the criticism via Instagram on Thursday, Kiddwaya expressed regret over the hurt and confusion his message may have caused. Out of respect for public sentiment, he decided to take the post down—not out of shame, but in acknowledgment of the concerns raised.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting victims of the Benue crisis, stressing that the attacks had led to immense suffering, loss of lives, and displacement of innocent people.
“I’ve seen the comments and heard the backlash,” Kiddwaya wrote. “I didn’t post about Benue for attention. I did it because I genuinely care. I’m a proud son of Benue, and watching what’s happening there breaks my heart. I couldn’t stay silent.”
He further explained that although he removed the donation post, he remains committed to doing his part through the Kiddwaya Foundation. He emphasized that community support is essential, and while he can’t solve the crisis alone, he will continue to use his voice, platform, and resources to make a difference.
“This isn’t about me. It never was. It’s about the people of Benue. And when the noise dies down, I hope we all remember what really matters,” he concluded.
