Senator Emmanuel Orker Jev and other plaintiffs had raised concerns, prompting the court to intervene to protect the interests of affected party members. As a result, the congress in the specified areas will be postponed until these issues are resolved, with a hearing set for August 16, 2024.

This court order does not impact the state congress scheduled for August 31, 2024.

The controversy began after the PDP’s ward congress on July 27, 2024, during which some party leaders were reported to have removed electoral materials meant for the affected local government areas.
