During a meeting with heads of ministries, departments, and agencies in Makurdi on Wednesday, Alia made this announcement.

“Retired civil servants now have a maximum of 120 days to receive their entitlements as we move forward. This is our commitment to them,” he affirmed.

He called on officials to prioritize discipline, hard work, and diligence while underscoring the importance of accountability, transparency, confidentiality, and teamwork.

Alia pointed out that employees who exhibit tardiness, arbitrary closings, or absenteeism set a poor example for their subordinates. He stressed the need for a profound shift in work attitude to achieve optimal results, which is what the people of Benue expect from their civil servants.

“Accountability must be ingrained in your mindset, and the confidentiality that used to be the hallmark of the civil service must be reinstated. I am here to serve you and the state,” he stated.

Addressing the civil servants, Alia requested that they dress appropriately to demonstrate respect for their positions.

“Let us restore the dignity, respect, and worth of the civil service,” he urged.
