Ogele emphasized that the recent concerns regarding the governor’s whereabouts were unnecessary, particularly since there have been no disruptions in the state’s governance.

The legal practitioner stressed that the constitution does not mandate a governor to reside in the state they were elected to govern.

In a discussion with reporters in Akure, the state capital, Ogele pointed out that Governor Akeredolu has not fallen short in fulfilling his duties as governor.

The governor’s absence from the state for five weeks after returning from a medical vacation in Germany had caused a stir in certain quarters.

Ogele further underscored that anyone can fall ill, and he commended Akeredolu for launching several impactful programs throughout the state.

He mentioned the gaps in the constitution and the need to amend it to address whether a governor can operate from outside the state.

Ogele added that politicians tend to read political motives into such situations, particularly with another election on the horizon.

He highlighted Akeredolu’s achievements in road construction and his contributions to the state’s development, noting that he has introduced unprecedented projects, including the construction of the first flyover in the state capital.
