Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the tragic incident involving the middle-aged individual.

According to Odutola, all individuals involved in the incident have been summoned for questioning as part of the investigation.

Naija News learned that the deceased, Anuoluwapo, operated a Bet9ja outlet near a well-known hotel in the area and was closing for the day when he was fatally shot.

There are claims that the police officers involved were under the influence of alcohol when one of them fired the fatal shot.

A witness account suggested that the officers were conducting a search or pursuing a suspect when they accidentally killed Anuoluwapo, known by the nickname Pepe.

It was also reported that the officers fled into the hotel and requested additional support to help them escape the crime scene.

Witnesses shared that the officers and their reinforcements intermittently fired their weapons to facilitate their escape.

In response to the incident, the spokesperson stated that the state’s police commissioner, Abiodun Alamutu, has contacted all relevant parties to initiate an investigation.

“We have the information that one Anuoluwapo was a victim. It is not easy to say exactly what happened, but the Commissioner of Police is in touch with the stakeholders. He has called everybody involved so that we can start investigating,” Channels Television quoted Odutola as saying on Saturday.
