Speaking during an interview on With Chude, the actress explained that she initially backed Tinubu by choice, but her support solidified after she was verbally harassed by someone who opposed her political preference.

According to Akintola, the bullying she endured became the driving force behind her decision to become even more vocal in her support for the current president.

She stressed that every Nigerian has the right to their own political views, urging people to stop intimidating others for holding different opinions.

Akintola said:
“I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last election because someone annoyed me with their bullying.

“Nigerians can be frustrating. Don’t bully others. We all have the right to choose who we support. If you dislike Tinubu, that’s your choice. If you prefer someone else, fine. But don’t try to silence people.

“They bullied Aunty Joke [Silva] so badly that someone wrote something extremely inhumane. So I made a video and declared, ‘I also support Tinubu—do your worst.’”

She added that differences in opinion are normal and should not spark hostility:
“We must stop the bullying. We need to accept that we won’t all agree. That’s what makes us unique. Even if you still believe he wasn’t the best option, he was my choice—and my voice belongs to me.”
