**Nigeria’s GDP Grows by 3.19%**

Nigeria’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 0.21 percentage points in the second quarter of 2024 (Q2’24), rising to 3.19% from 2.98% in the first quarter (Q1’24), according to a recent National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report.

The NBS highlighted that the Services sector was the main driver of this growth, achieving a 3.79% increase and contributing 58.76% to the total GDP. This quarterly growth of 3.19% outpaced the 2.51% recorded in Q2’23 and the 2.98% observed in Q1’24.

In contrast, the Agriculture sector grew by 1.41%, down from 1.5% in the same quarter of 2023. The Industrial sector showed significant improvement, growing by 3.53% compared to a -1.94% contraction in Q2’23.
