Boko Haram Strikes Again: Three Soldiers Killed In Brutal Yobe Attack

Three soldiers were killed in a recent attack on Buni Yadi, a community in the Gujba Local Government Area, approximately 54 kilometers from Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.

The assailants were members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, formerly known as Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād.

A local resident told SaharaReporters that the attackers looted foodstuffs and livestock during the assault. The resident recounted, “My hometown was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists overnight. Three soldiers were killed, and foodstuffs and livestock were taken. However, the army recovered three vehicles from the terrorists. The attack started around 11 pm on Sunday and lasted until 4 am this morning (Monday).”

Buni Yadi has reportedly been one of the hardest-hit areas in Yobe, with Boko Haram controlling it for two years.

As Nigeria continues to face ongoing insurgency in the North-East, the terrorist group has caused widespread destruction, claiming thousands of lives and displacing millions, with states like Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe bearing the most significant impact.

In a related development, Aji Kolomi, a former senatorial candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections for the Yobe East constituency, has resigned from the party. His resignation was officially communicated in a letter dated April 1, 2025, to the Chairman of the Ngurbuwa Ward in Gujba. Kolomi expressed his gratitude to the party leadership for the opportunity to run in the 2023 elections.
