During a press briefing in Maiduguri, Osoba emphasized the significance of the surrender and the successful neutralization of explosive devices as major achievements in the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region. He noted that Keremi, who was a close aide to a notorious Boko Haram commander, admitted to participating in various terrorist activities along the Monguno-Baga axis and provided crucial intelligence.

Additionally, MNJTF troops also received Babagoni Modu and a family of eight who escaped from a Boko Haram camp in Marte. Modu, a former member of the group, cited his disillusionment with Boko Haram’s violence as his reason for fleeing. The family, consisting of two women, four men, and two children, shared their traumatic experiences before their escape.
