Following Judge Knowles’ decision to annul the $11.5 billion award, along with accrued interest, previously granted to P&ID due to a failed 2010 gas processing plant deal, citing that the award was secured through fraudulent means, President Tinubu commends the UK court for prioritizing the case’s merits over all other factors.

“This groundbreaking ruling unequivocally demonstrates that sovereign nations will no longer be subjected to economic schemes orchestrated by private companies and corrupt officials acting in isolation, seeking to extort and burden the very countries they pledge to serve and safeguard.

“Today’s triumph extends beyond Nigeria; it is a triumph for our long-oppressed continent and for the developing world at large, which has endured unjust economic misconduct and blatant exploitation for far too long.

“Nigeria is grateful for the tireless efforts of the legal defense team and acknowledges the pivotal role played by the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney-General in safeguarding Nigeria’s interests in this case,” the President affirmed.
